Illumination Electrical control gear includes Ballasts Dimmers
Electronic ballasts
The current in an electrical circuit is regulated by a electrical ballast or control gear. They are used for a number of applications which vary from automotive ignition systems to fluorescent lamps used for domestic illumination. The load in such applications sometimes does not regulate itself, resulting in a negative resistance. If the load is connected to a constant voltage supply, the current will keep on increasing, damaging the device connected to the supply source.
